Absa Bank Kenya is seeking a highly connected, influential, and experienced professional to join its team as a Senior Business Development Recruiter/Introducer – HNI (Fixed-Term Contract). This role is designed for someone who thrives in high-end relationship building, understands the wealth ecosystem deeply, and knows how to move confidently within circles of influence.
Driving New Business Through Strategic Client Introductions
The bulk of this role—about 80% of the time—focuses on identifying and introducing High-Net-Worth (HNW) and Ultra-High-Net-Worth (UHNW) prospects to Absa’s Affluent, Premier, and Wealth teams. This involves:
-
Actively using personal networks, professional affiliations, and industry presence to uncover new opportunities
-
Engaging potential HNI clients, understanding their financial and lifestyle needs, and connecting them to the right Absa relationship managers
-
Staying informed about market shifts, emerging prospects, and the evolving wealth landscape in Kenya and beyond
Professionals in this role are expected to not only open doors but also to ensure a smooth transition once the client is introduced — maintaining compliance, due diligence, and ethical standards throughout the process.
Mapping and Understanding the HNI Ecosystem
Understanding where high-value clients operate is crucial in this role. It requires ongoing research and interaction with:
-
Entrepreneurs
-
C-suite executives
-
Family business owners
-
Diaspora and global investors
-
Influential industry leaders
This intelligence allows the recruiter to anticipate opportunities and guide the bank’s engagement strategies.
Building Strategic Partnerships
Success hinges heavily on partnerships. The ideal candidate builds strong, mutually beneficial relationships with:
-
Law firms
-
Real estate developers
-
Investment advisors
-
Consultants
-
Luxury service providers
-
Family offices
-
Clubs and lifestyle organizations
These partners serve as powerful referral sources that help maintain a steady flow of meaningful introductions.
Brand Representation and Client Experience
Another key component—about 10% of the role—focuses on brand positioning. The recruiter represents Absa at high-profile gatherings such as industry events, charity galas, business clubs, and private investment forums. They act as high-level ambassadors, showcasing the bank’s value to elite clientele.
Governance, Control, and Compliance
The remaining 10% of the role ensures that all activities meet strict compliance standards, including KYC, documentation, and operational guidelines. Documentation such as client notes, letters, and follow-up material must be prepared with accuracy and timeliness.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must have:
-
A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution
-
10+ years of experience in wealth management, luxury sales, private banking, business development, or related fields
-
Established relationships with HNI/UHNW individuals
-
Strong discretion, communication, and client-handling skills
-
A reputation as a trusted figure in high-value business circles
