The Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust (MESPT) is a nonprofit/NGO in Nairobi that supports smallholder farmers and agri-SMEs by strengthening business services, financial access, and market linkages. To build youth and women capacity in supply chain and procurement functions, MESPT has opened a Procurement Intern role to provide hands-on experience in procurement operations. This is a full-time internship based in Nairobi (Westlands).
Key Responsibilities
As Procurement Intern at MESPT, your daily tasks will include:
- 
Processing procurement requisitions for goods and services, following established internal policies.
 - 
Maintaining and updating the vendor register by adding new suppliers, verifying credentials, and ensuring supplier details remain up to date.
 - 
Preparing and issuing procurement notices, bidding documents, requests for proposals (RFPs), and expressions of interest (EOIs).
 - 
Receiving and opening bids/proposals while ensuring transparency in the process.
 - 
Coordinating evaluation of bids/proposals with the procurement team.
 - 
Preparing bid analyses and evaluation reports.
 - 
Drafting Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) and contracts for approved suppliers.
 - 
Communicating outcomes of procurement processes to all bidders.
 - 
Assisting in preparation of procurement reports and maintaining proper procurement records.
 - 
Supporting other administrative or procurement-related tasks as assigned.
 
Qualifications & Skills
Applicants should have:
- 
A Degree or Diploma in Procurement, Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
 - 
At least 1 year of internship or equivalent experience in procurement or supply chain roles.
 - 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SharePoint, OneDrive, or Power BI is an added advantage.
 - 
Knowledge of procurement systems or ERP tools (e.g., MS Dynamics Navision) will be a plus.
 - 
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
 - 
Excellent communication skills, integrity, and willingness to learn.
