What You’ll Do

As a Senior Applied Scientist, you’ll:

  • Advance AI research by designing experiments, validating metrics, and developing ML pipelines for large language models (LLMs), reinforcement learning, and advanced reasoning systems — all within Microsoft’s Responsible AI standards.

  • Drive innovation by collaborating with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to transform cutting-edge research into real-world features for Microsoft 365 Copilot.

  • Lead and mentor by guiding junior scientists and engineers while setting best practices across the organization.

  • Engage with global teams — including Microsoft Research and Azure AI — to integrate novel ideas into scalable products.

  • Champion customer impact by analyzing user data and feedback to identify areas for meaningful improvement.

What You’ll Need

Applicants should have a background in Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 1–4 years of experience depending on education level (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD).
You’ll also need:

  • Expertise in predictive analytics, data modeling, or machine learning at scale.

  • Strong communication skills to clearly explain complex ideas.
