This is a hands-on role ideal for professionals eager to gain exposure to corporate venture capital, work closely with senior leadership, and engage with innovative startups across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Sourcing & Screening:

Identify, research, and evaluate early-stage startups in Britam’s focus sectors.

Conduct introductory calls with founders and maintain pipeline tracking.
Research & Thesis Development:

Conduct market mapping, trend analysis, and competitive research.

Assist in shaping investment theses in collaboration with senior team members.
Financial & Commercial Analysis:

Build financial models, analyze unit economics, and assess scalability and competitive positioning.

Evaluate data rooms and support investment decisions.
Investment Process Support:

Draft and refine investment memos, prepare materials for the Investment Committee, and coordinate diligence across technical, legal, and commercial areas.
Internal Contribution & Operational Support:

Codify best practices in pipeline management and reporting.

Support leadership on operational functions related to fund management, governance, and reporting.
Value Creation & Ecosystem Engagement:

Facilitate introductions and strategic partnerships for portfolio startups.

Build strong relationships with founders, co-investors, accelerators, and corporate partners.

Represent Britam at ecosystem events and contribute to the growth of Africa’s startup community.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related field.

3-5 years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, corporate development, strategy consulting, or high-growth startups.

Strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Experience in the African startup ecosystem is preferred.

Familiarity with CRM systems and research databases.

Financial modeling skills are a plus; prior exposure to VC/PE deal flow is advantageous.

Postgraduate qualification (MBA, CFA, or equivalent) is desirable.
