The British High Commission Nairobi, through the British Office Sudan, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Health Security Adviser to support the UK government’s health and humanitarian agenda in Sudan. This full-time role offers a rare opportunity to shape health outcomes in one of the world’s most complex humanitarian environments.
The position focuses on advancing the UK’s engagement in Sudan’s health sector, with particular emphasis on lifesaving humanitarian interventions, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), disease surveillance, vaccination coverage, and strengthening primary healthcare systems. As a leading humanitarian donor in Sudan, the UK aims to play a more active and influential role in shaping long-term health delivery systems.
In this role, you will represent the UK in health-related engagements with multilateral organizations, bilateral donors, implementing partners, and Sudanese authorities. You will help coordinate donor efforts, improve coherence across health investments, and influence multilateral partners to deliver stronger and more sustainable results.
The Health Security Adviser will assess disease surveillance systems, provide early warning analysis on outbreaks, and work closely with organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) to strengthen surveillance at local and national levels. Oversight of sexual and reproductive health programming, including supply chains and service delivery, is also a key responsibility.
You will be part of the Humanitarian and Human Development Team (HHD), working closely with senior advisers to ensure all health interventions are conflict-sensitive, coordinated, and aligned with broader humanitarian objectives. The role requires strong technical expertise, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure.
