The Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead kitchen operations at its Nairobi facility. This full-time opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals with strong leadership skills, creativity in menu development, and a commitment to excellence in food quality and safety.
As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall management of the kitchen, from designing innovative menus to supervising daily food preparation and service. The role requires a hands-on leader who can maintain high culinary standards while ensuring operations remain efficient and cost-effective.
A major part of this position involves menu planning and execution in line with established cost margins and client preferences. You will also oversee inventory control, ensuring proper storage, minimal waste, and accurate record-keeping to achieve set food cost targets.
You will lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, creating a motivated and productive team. This includes managing work schedules, leave planning, and conducting performance reviews to support professional growth. Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards is critical, and you will be expected to strictly enforce all local authority guidelines.
Beyond the kitchen, the Head Chef works closely with service teams, management, and marketing to enhance guest experiences, support budgeting processes, and contribute to special events and promotions.
This role requires a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role such as Sous Chef or higher. A Diploma in Culinary Arts is mandatory, while a degree in hospitality management is an added advantage.
