Mastercard is seeking an experienced Director of Public Policy to join its Nairobi office and play a pivotal role in shaping policy engagement across Africa. This full-time position is ideal for a seasoned public policy professional who thrives at the intersection of government relations, innovation, and digital transformation.

In this role, you will help position Mastercard as a trusted partner to governments and key influencers, supporting national development agendas through the expansion of digital payments, financial inclusion, and innovation-driven economies. You will work to ensure a regulatory environment that supports business growth while safeguarding Mastercard’s strategic interests.

The Director, Public Policy will design and implement advocacy strategies that anticipate and respond to legislative and regulatory developments affecting the payments and technology ecosystem. You will brief senior leadership at country, regional, and global levels, offering clear analysis and recommended actions to move Mastercard’s agenda forward.

Building strong relationships with government officials, regulators, and third-party influencers will be central to your success. You will also represent Mastercard in industry associations, coordinate sector-wide policy initiatives on non-competitive issues, and manage external agencies advocating on the company’s behalf.

This position requires a collaborative leader with a strong understanding of legislative processes and the ability to navigate complex, fast-paced policy environments. While experience in financial services or payments is an advantage, professionals from technology, consultancy, or government backgrounds are equally encouraged to apply.
