Director, ICAO Mission at Kenya Civil Aviation Authority – Apply Before 25 November 2025

Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) is inviting qualified professionals to apply for the position of Director, ICAO Mission. This prestigious role is based in Montreal, Canada, where the successful candidate will represent and advance Kenya’s aviation interests within the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

As a state corporation under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, KCAA plays a crucial role in implementing the Chicago Convention, ensuring Kenya’s compliance with global civil aviation standards.

The Director will work closely with the Kenya High Commission in Ottawa and the Ministry of Roads and Transport to champion Kenya’s position on critical aviation matters — including safety, security, air navigation, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Representing Kenya’s aviation interests at ICAO.

  • Building and maintaining strong relations with ICAO and its member states.

  • Leading Kenya’s participation in ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

  • Coordinating Kenya’s ratification of ICAO conventions and protocols.

  • Seeking technical and financial partnerships for aviation training and development.

  • Advising the government on ICAO Council and Commission matters.

  • Overseeing the development and presentation of Kenya’s working papers at ICAO meetings.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess:

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience (with 5 years in management).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Economics, Law, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in a similar discipline.

  • Professional qualifications in aviation or air traffic control.

  • Membership in a recognized professional body.

  • Strong understanding of global aviation conventions and the Civil Aviation Act (CAP 394).
