Step into Leadership — Assistant Director, Advocates Training Programme at Kenya School of Law

The Kenya School of Law (KSL) is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Director, Advocates Training Programme (ATP) — a senior leadership role for an accomplished legal professional passionate about shaping the future of Kenya’s legal profession.

Reporting directly to the Director/CEO, the successful candidate will oversee the management and delivery of the Advocates Training Programme, ensuring quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across all academic and operational functions.


Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Director will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures to align the ATP with KSL’s objectives.

  • Planning and coordinating the ATP academic calendar and ensuring smooth program delivery.

  • Collaborating with the Deputy Director to market and promote the School’s programmes.

  • Overseeing budgets and departmental expenditure, ensuring financial discipline.

  • Maintaining high academic standards through quality assurance and regular curriculum reviews.

  • Supervising staff, ensuring appraisals, mentorship, and effective workload distribution.

  • Teaching, mentoring, and evaluating students, including moderating pre-bar and oral examinations.

  • Preparing departmental reports and ensuring operational efficiency.


Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Law (LL.B & LL.M) from a recognized institution.

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.

  • 10 years of post-admission experience, five of which must be in management.

  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

  • Proven leadership, mentorship, and program management abilities.

  • Proficiency in computer applications and strong organizational skills.

  • Must have completed a management course lasting at least four weeks.

  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution (Integrity and Leadership).
