Empowering Disability Inclusion: APDK Seeks Visionary CEO to Lead National Impact

The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) is opening its doors to a transformative leader ready to champion disability inclusion at a national level. As one of Kenya’s oldest and most respected organizations supporting people with disabilities, APDK is searching for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who can inspire change, build strategic partnerships, and guide the organization into its next phase of growth.

This is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at APDK’s National Office in Nairobi. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will serve as the primary bridge between strategic decisions and daily operations. Beyond managing programs and administrative functions, this leader will be responsible for ensuring that APDK’s mission—empowering people with disabilities—remains the core of every initiative.

A major part of the CEO’s mandate will involve providing high-level strategic leadership. This includes shaping the organization’s long-term direction, advising the Board, and turning policy into action through effective programs. Operational excellence is also essential. The ideal candidate will oversee finance, administration, human resource operations, and program implementation through a competent senior management team.

Fundraising and resource mobilization remain central to the role. APDK is seeking someone who can confidently engage donors, development agencies, and philanthropic partners to secure sustainable financial support. Public relations, media engagement, and advocacy will also fall under the CEO’s leadership, making strong communication skills crucial.

The organization hopes to attract a person with proven leadership experience—preferably someone who has worked in disability-focused environments. An advanced degree in business, public administration, strategic management, or a related field is required, along with 5–10 years of senior leadership experience. The ideal candidate will also bring strong financial management expertise, a history of successful fundraising, and the interpersonal skills needed to maintain APDK’s positive public image.

Applications are open until 17th December 2025 at 4 PM. Interested candidates should submit their CV and cover letter (including current and expected salary) to apdkboard@apdk.org. APDK strongly encourages persons with disabilities to apply and remains committed to equal opportunity hiring.
