Join UNODC as an Anti-Corruption and Peacebuilding Advisor in Nairobi

Are you passionate about promoting integrity and peace in Africa? The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a National Consultant for the role of Anti-Corruption and Peacebuilding Advisor based in Nairobi.

This exciting consultancy opportunity falls under UNODC’s project titled “Identifying and mitigating corruption risks to strengthen peacebuilding efforts in Africa.” The project aims to enhance corruption risk assessment processes in public institutions across Sierra Leone, Somalia, and South Sudan. By doing so, it empowers anti-corruption authorities to prevent, identify, and respond to corruption risks while promoting conflict and gender-sensitive approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Somali institutions, including the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission, and other agencies, to implement the corruption risk management methodology in pilot public institutions.

  • Organize and co-facilitate workshops on corruption risk assessment and mitigation, ensuring plans are conflict and gender-sensitive.

  • Provide technical guidance for implementing priority risk mitigation strategies and foster continuous support for the CRM process among stakeholders.

  • Learn and integrate best practices from South-South cooperation events.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Advanced degree in criminology, law, political science, sociology, or related fields (or a first-level degree with two additional years of experience).

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in criminal justice, governance, or anti-corruption in Somalia.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in Somali and English.

  • Experience planning high-level interactive events is an advantage.

  • Previous work with UN or international organizations is desirable.
