Microsoft, one of the world’s most innovative technology leaders, is seeking an experienced Government Affairs Director to lead its policy and advocacy initiatives in Africa. The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and plays a pivotal role in advancing Microsoft’s mission to empower governments, businesses, and communities through technology.


Your Mission

As the Government Affairs Director, you’ll develop and execute strategic engagement plans that influence public policy, strengthen Microsoft’s reputation, and promote digital transformation initiatives across the continent.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Policy Advocacy

  • Lead Microsoft’s engagement with governments and regulators across Africa.

  • Develop and manage advocacy campaigns that align with company priorities and address emerging technology policy issues.

  • Shape Microsoft’s policy agenda, balancing business goals with public interest.

2. Intelligence & Research

  • Build a strong intelligence network to analyze political, social, and economic trends that impact Microsoft’s business.

  • Provide actionable insights and policy briefings to senior leadership.

3. Stakeholder & Coalition Management

  • Build strong relationships with government agencies, policy institutions, and industry organizations.

  • Partner with civil society and private sector leaders to advance technology-driven solutions.

4. Internal Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with Microsoft teams to align government relations efforts with business objectives.

  • Prepare senior executives for government engagements and official visits.

5. Representation & Advocacy

  • Represent Microsoft at key regional forums and events.

  • Communicate complex policy issues in a clear, impactful way to stakeholders and the public.


Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Public Administration, or related fields.

  • Extensive experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, or public policy.

  • Proven record of influencing policy at national or international levels.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
