The Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) is seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to spearhead the One Mara Carbon Project (OMCP) — a landmark initiative aimed at preserving Kenya’s iconic wildlife ecosystem while driving sustainable development.
This pivotal leadership position combines strategic vision, community engagement, and environmental stewardship. The CEO will oversee project implementation, ensure compliance with global carbon standards, and lead a dynamic team to deliver measurable impact for nature and people alike.
Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight: Direct the execution of OMCP’s goals and maintain adherence to carbon certification standards.

Leadership: Build a high-performing organizational structure, strengthen systems, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the initiative.

Community Engagement: Partner with local communities, government entities, and conservation stakeholders to promote inclusivity and resilience.

Governance: Uphold transparent governance structures and ensure the project’s compliance with legal and financial regulations.

Financial Management: Oversee multi-million shilling budgets, audits, and carbon credit investments.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or business.

10+ years of senior management experience in conservation or climate-focused programs.

Proven ability to manage large-scale budgets and complex stakeholder networks.

Deep understanding of Maasai Mara’s ecological and community landscape.

Master’s degree and familiarity with carbon certification (Verra) are a plus.
