The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is seeking a qualified Market Risk & Compliance Associate to join its dynamic team in Nairobi. This is a full-time opportunity for professionals passionate about ensuring integrity, compliance, and transparency in Kenya’s capital markets.
Job Overview
The Market Risk & Compliance Associate will play a key role in maintaining compliance among market participants and listed companies. The ideal candidate will monitor, analyze, and ensure that NSE operations adhere to the rules and regulations of both the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the NSE itself.
Key Responsibilities

Analyze and review financial reports of listed companies and trading participants.

Conduct compliance checks for new listing applications and participant admissions.

Review valuation reports for companies seeking to list and verify pricing accuracy.

Track financial health and capital adequacy of trading participants.

Conduct on-site and off-site inspections to ensure compliance with CMA and NSE rules.

Manage investor complaints, compliance tracking, and resolution processes.

Develop and deliver compliance training for market participants.

Engage in risk modeling, stress testing, and predictive analytics for market resilience.

Prepare periodic reports on sustainability, compliance, and financial stability.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

At least two (2) years of experience in a similar role within financial services.

Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, CISI, or FA are an added advantage.

Membership in professional bodies such as ICPAK or LSK is desirable.
Key Competencies

Strong knowledge of capital markets regulations and compliance frameworks.

Excellent data analytics and financial modeling skills.

Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and Power BI for financial and compliance reporting.

Familiarity with automated trading systems and data visualization tools.

Strong ethics, confidentiality, and problem-solving abilities.
