The Narok County Public Service Board wishes to inform the public that there will be a recruitment exercise for Game Rangers scheduled to take place from 8th September 2025 to 18th September 2025.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Maintain the security of wildlife and prevent poaching
  • Safeguard tourists and perform various parade duties
  • Undertake sentry duties, manning report and inquiry offices
  • Investigate wildlife-related crimes and preserve crime scenes
  • Track and recover illegal wildlife products
  • Collect intelligence and interrogate suspects
  • Compile environmental and conservation crime statistics
  • Compiling nominal rolls
  • Prepare nominal rolls and undertake patrols and escort duties
  • Participate in rescue operations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must:

  • Have a minimum of KCSE Grade D- (Minus)
  • Be a Kenyan citizen with a valid National Identity Card
  • Have no criminal record
  • Possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Be physically and mentally fit
  • Be aged between 18 and 28 years
  • Be at least 5 feet 4 inches tall for men and 5 feet 2 inches tall for womenHave good hearing and clear vision
  • Be computer literate
  • Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during initial training
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (Leadership and Integrity) and Article 232 (Values and Principles of Public Service)
  • Note: Successful applicants will undergo a paramilitary training course lasting

The Narok County Public Service Board invites applications from qualified, competent, and motivated individuals to fill the position of Game Warden III (Cadet), pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the County Government Act No. 17

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the crime section at a station/outpost and map high-conflict or poaching areas; record, investigate, and forward cases to police for prosecution
  • Maintain an inventory of lost and found property
  • Provide guidance to investigating officers
  • Supervise communication (signals and radio rooms)
  • Oversee and supervise the deployment of officers
  • Liaise with government agencies on security matters
  • Ensure maintenance of county government vehicles and assets
  • Keep operational records and submit timely reports and correspondence
  • Execute personnel and administrative duties, including morning call-ups and evening briefs
  • Assist members of the public, coordinate raids, ambushes, and special operationsConduct orderly room proceedings and serve as the orderly officer
  • Collect and analyze intelligence
  • Maintain custody of exhibits, records, and installations
  • Respond to distress calls and conduct night rounds
  • Support other security providers and manage disposal of expired ammunitionInvestigate crimes, apprehend offenders and coordinate community policing initiatives; conduct beats, patrols, and attend court sessions where necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:
    • Wildlife Management, Environmental Management, Forestry, Tourism Management, Environmental Science, Botany and Zoology, Ecology, Counselling and Psychology, Animal Health, Criminology, Law, Risk and Disaster Management, Government and Public Administration, Human Resource Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Possess a valid National Identification Card
  • Have no criminal record
  • Present a valid Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Be aged 22–30 years (for new recruits)
  • (If serving) Hold the rank of Ranger or Corporal
  • Be at least 5 feet 4 inches tall for men, and 5 feet 2 inches tall for women
  • Be physically and medically fit
  • Have good hearing and clear vision
  • Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during training.
  • Be proficient in computer applications
  • Satisfy the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 on Leadership and Integrity and Article 232 on Values and Principles of Public Service

Note: Successful applicants will undergo a paramilitary training course lasting not less than nine (9) months, fully sponsored by the Narok County Government
